Why people come

For seasons when the usual ways stop answering

Burnout that rest doesn't seem to touch

When rest stops helping, what's needed is not more rest but depth. The retreat is a space where you don't have to hold anything together for a while.

A mind that will not switch off

Nights of icaros and days of silence give the mind something it rarely gets: permission to stop.

Lost clarity about what comes next

Deep inner work has a way of showing what matters, without anyone telling you what that should be.

Old patterns repeating themselves

Patterns are easier to see from a distance. The circle, the diet and the ceremonies give you that distance.

A season of change asking for depth

Some transitions deserve a marker: a clear before and after. This is one way to give your change that weight.

This is an experience and a process — not a treatment, and not a substitute for one.

What guests carry home

Clarity. A meeting with yourself. Letting go of what no longer serves. Our guests speak about it in their own words — their stories are below.

We offer a space and a guide. The work — and what it opens — is yours. We make no promises of outcomes.

The tradition

A living Shipibo lineage

The Shipibo people of the Peruvian Amazon carry one of the oldest ceremonial plant traditions on Earth. At the centre of each night is the icaro — a sung map of the work, passed from maestro to maestro for generations.

Ceremonies are held in the traditional way: at night, in silence and candlelight, with the maestro singing personally for each guest. The maestro works with each person individually — this is the heart of the Shipibo way.

Every guest completes a health screening before joining. We begin with care, not with ceremony.

Why this retreat

Four things we refuse to compromise

I

Personal work with the maestro

An icaro sung for you. The maestro's individual reading and one-on-one guidance — not a stage show for a crowd.

II

True intimacy

Up to 10 guests — where most retreats gather 15–20. Space to speak with the maestro, and space to be silent.

III

First in Asia

The first retreat in Asia devoted entirely to the Shipibo tradition.

IV

Body and spirit together

The traditional Shipibo diet, plant teachers woven into the menu, and quiet days built for integration.

The programme

Five days, one path inward

1

Arrival

Settling into the villa, opening circle, meeting the maestro.

2

First ceremony

A day of preparation and rest. Ceremony begins after nightfall.

3

Second ceremony

Morning sharing circle, quiet hours, the second night of work.

4

Third ceremony

Personal time with the maestro. The deepest night of the retreat.

5

Integration & closing

Integration circle, grounding, departure.

A small circle, facilitators present through every night, and nothing rushed — this is what makes the space feel carefully held.

The maestro

Rafael — a hereditary Shipibo curandero

Born into a family of maestros in the Peruvian Amazon, Rafael carries the Young Serpent line — a living Shipibo lineage. He has walked this path for 33 years.

“The plants taught my grandfather, my father, and then me. I sing the icaros the way they were sung to me — for one person at a time, never for a crowd.”
The circle around you

Held by experienced hands

Alongside the maestro, the circle is held by two facilitators, each with more than ten years of ceremony experience — one facilitator for every three guests.

Out of respect for the privacy of the space, we introduce the team in person.

Care & screening

A curated circle

We choose our guests as carefully as our guests choose us. Every application passes an individual health review before a seat is confirmed.

ScreeningPreparationCeremonyIntegrationAftercare
  • A mandatory health questionnaire before anything else
  • Certain medications and conditions are incompatible with the work — we review each case personally
  • Incompatible medications are tapered in advance, with guidance and enough time
  • Full preparation guide shared once screening is cleared
This list is not exhaustive — our team reviews each guest individually. The only real risk is undisclosed information: full honesty keeps you and the circle safe.

This is a ceremonial practice, not a medical service — full scope and disclaimer at the bottom of this page.

Preparation

The work begins before you arrive

One to two weeks before the retreat: a gentle traditional diet, abstaining from alcohol and certain foods, and time to set your intention.

A structured process with a guide at every step — not a leap in the dark.

Nourishment

The Shipibo table

Delicious, wholesome meals prepared in line with the traditional Shipibo diet — and plant teachers woven gently into the menu, the way the tradition intends.

The place

Private villas in the heart of Bali

A private room for every guest, a dedicated ceremony space, gardens and silence. The exact location is shared after booking — privacy is part of the design.

Questions

Asked before every retreat

Is this my first time — is that okay?

Yes. Most of our guests are meeting the tradition for the first time. The small circle and personal attention exist exactly for this.

I take medication. Can I join?

It depends on the medication. Disclose everything in the screening — some require tapering in advance, some are incompatible. We review every case individually.

Is it physically demanding?

The nights are long and the process can be intense. The days are built for rest, and facilitators are present through every ceremony.

What about confidentiality?

No photos of guests, no names shared, and the villa's location is disclosed only after booking.

What languages are spoken?

Ceremonies are held in the traditional way; facilitation is in English and Russian.

What if I need to cancel?

100% deposit refund 30+ days ahead, 50% at 14–30 days, later — pass your seat to someone else.

Food restrictions or allergies?

Tell us in the screening form — the kitchen adapts within the traditional diet.

Ten seats. One circle.
